Friends Fiduciary Noted On “Democracy Now!” For Visa Advocacy

December 20, 2013

In a broadcast focusing on American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) “Institutional Corruption,” FFC earned kudos for advocacy leading to Visa’s withdrawal from ALEC. FFC co-filed a shareholder proposal with Visa seeking disclosure on corporate lobbying and memberships in lobbying organizations. FFC and other filers withdrew the resolution after Visa informed about its decision to not only drop out of ALEC, but also make additional disclosures available on their website. This is a “win” from a shareholder advocacy standpoint, and underscores FFC’s belief and cause in reflecting socially-responsible and Quaker values toward strategies for long-term shareholder value.
